Description

Thornsflush is a cottage dating from the mid-18th century, which was refronted in the early 19th century. It is constructed of red brick with grey brick headers, and has a tiled roof with two external brick chimney stacks on the right side. The cottage is two storeys high with three window spaces, the central bay being blank and bearing the words "Thorn's Flush C17". It features early 19th-century metal casement windows with tiled hoods. A central doorcase shelters a six-panelled door with a hipped tiled canopy and lattice trelliswork. The right-hand elevation is decorated with curved tiles.

Inside, the cottage features a 1 1/2 inch chamfered axial beam with lambs-tongue step. There’s also an open fireplace with a built-in seat, brick floors, 19th-century plank doors, and a bread oven. The back wall separating the house from the outshut is constructed with rat trap bonding.
