Description

Ruffold Farm House Hotel is a house that has been converted into a hotel. It dates back to the 17th century and was extended at both ends in the 19th century and to the rear. The building features a timber frame set on a sandstone and render plinth, with whitewashed brick infill above the exposed frame. To the left, there are whitewashed brick extensions with a tile-hung gable, while the right-hand wing has an imitation frame with render infill. The roofs are plain tiled and step down to the right of the center, giving the building a half-H shaped plan with projecting gabled wings.

The central range was originally designed as a center chimney house, with two storeys at the ends and one storey with attics to the left of the center, featuring two gabled and bargeboarded dormers with diamond-pane windows. There is a multiple rebuilt stack to the left of the center and a corbelled end stack to the left. The central range has three framed bays, with arch bracing in the right-hand bay. On the first floor, there are two diamond-pane windows to the right, while the ground floor has four windows, one of which is larger than the others. A former door at the base of the chimney bay has been blocked.

The left gabled wing has a plat band over the ground floor and two "cross" windows on each floor, with the ground floor windows having cambered heads. There is one large diamond-pane window on the first floor of the right-hand gable and three windows on the ground floor. A door is located on the left-hand return front within a gabled porch. The rear of the building features timber-framed extensions. There is also a coach house attached to the front right, which has a diagonal brick band over the ground floor, a center gable, and sliding garage doors. An old external rear wall has been preserved inside.
