Description

Whipley Manor is a house with a complex history, dating from the 17th century to the rear, with a late 18th-century front range and 19th-century extensions to the rear. The front of the house is built of brown and blue brick with deep eaves and a hipped roof covered in plain tiles. The rear structure is timber-framed, with brick cladding below and tile hanging above, also with plain tiled roofs.

The main entrance range is rectangular, two storeys high with end stacks. It has three bays with three casement windows across the first floor. The ground floor features two windows each with a gauged brick arch. A central, flat-roofed rendered portico contains a half-glazed door. The right return front displays the older, T-shaped house with a gabled cross wing to the right. There are tall, corbelled stacks to the right of centre. A gable on the left has a three-light window, a flat-roofed window, and a ground-floor window below. A five-light window is located on the ground floor. The gablet cross wing has one window on each floor. Double half-glazed doors lead to a lobby entry on the right. A single-storey gable wing is attached to the right end, alongside a garden wall.
