Description

East Whipley Cottage is an estate cottage dating from around 1870. It is constructed of galleted sandstone blocks with blue stone patterning, featuring rusticated red and blue brick dressings and banded tile hanging above in fishscale and club patterning. The roof is tiled, and the building has a cross-shaped plan with four stacks placed diagonally on the ridge. The cottage is two storeys high, with diamond panels in each of the two bargeboarded front gables. Each gable has a single two-light casement window with diamond tracery on the first floor. There are angle bays to the ground floor, to the left and right of the centre. Panelled and part-glazed doors are set within porch recesses with hip roofs, supported by block-rusticated brick piers.
