Description

The granary at Smithwood House is an 18th-century structure. It features a timber frame set on brick plinth walls, with brick infill above the exposed frame and a plain tiled roof that has tile-hung gable ends. The building is a single storey with a dug-out basement and is two bays deep, supported by diagonal bracing. Access to the granary is through a door located at the center of the gable end, which is reached by a flight of six brick steps. There is also a door leading to the basement storey, which is accessed down two steps.
