Description
Church Gate Cottage is a late 16th-century cottage that features a timber frame with brown and red brick cladding at the base and red and brown brick infill above the exposed frame. The cottage has a plain tiled roof with a brick stack at the rear. It is two storeys high and consists of two framed bays, showcasing irregularly placed diamond pane leaded casement windows. On the first floor, there is a small window on the left and a five-light window on the right. The ground floor has one two-light window and one three-light window. The central entrance features a ribbed door, and there is a catslide roof at the rear. Inside, much of the framing is exposed in the ceilings and walls, and the queen post roof construction is visible in the gable on the left-hand return front. The cottage plays an important role in the impressive approach to the Church.
