Description

The Terrace is a house built in 1808 by John Saunders. It is constructed of brown brick with gault brick dressings and features a pyramidally hipped slate roof. The building has three storeys over a basement, set on a plinth with a brick band above the ground floor, boxed eaves, and a central brick chimney stack. The front has four bays with glazing bar sash windows, most of which are original, and have cemented sills. The second-floor windows are shallower, while the ground-floor windows are set in arched recesses. There are single-storey end bays, with a six-panel door to the left under a transom light, located in an arched recess accessed by a flight of seven steps with an iron railing. The house originally was divided into two and is part of a terrace of officers' houses built for the Royal Military Academy.
