Manor house, now commanding officer's residence. Late C18, altered early C19. MATERIALS: Painted ashlar with rendered stacks, roof not visible, hipped slate roof to right hand side range. PLAN: double depth plan. STYLE: mid Georgian style. EXTERIOR: 3 storeys, 5-window range with 2 storey 4-window side range. Symmetrical front with middle bay set forward, platbands, thin cornice band and parapet. 6/6-pane sashes, some horned. Left hand return has 5-window range all blind except second bay from front, which has 6/6-pane sashes, above curved bay with 6/9-pane horned sashes down to ground. Garden front has wide right hand canted bay with parapet, central 6/6 and flanking 4/4-pane sashes, with French windows to first floor windows above. Right hand lower 2 storey, 4-window range has segmental arched casements. INTERIOR: not inspected but noted as having an entrance hall and stair, and panelled shutters. HISTORY: originally the manor house of Sandhurst, and included in the early C19 college as the Commandant's house after the estate was bought in 1801 from William Pitt.
