Description

The Terrace is a house built in 1808 by John Saunders. It features brown brick with gault brick dressings and has a pyramidally hipped slate roof. The building stands three storeys over a basement, resting on a plinth with a brick band above the ground floor, boxed eaves, and a central brick stack. The front has four bays with glazing bar sash windows, most of which are original, and cemented sills. The second-floor windows are shallower, while the ground-floor windows are set in arched recesses. There are single-storey end bays that are set back, with a six-panel door to the right accessed by a flight of seven steps with an iron handrail. The return fronts have three bays with blind windows. Originally, the house was divided into two and is part of a terrace of officers' houses built for the Royal Military Academy.
