Description
The Lock-keeper's Cottage at Penton Hook Lodge, dated 1814, is a two-storey building with a basement. It features a gable front and is constructed of stucco with a slate roof and a gable end chimney. The design includes end piers, a band over the ground floor, and a string course over the first floor. A central panel is divided by bands and has a platband inscribed with "Penton Hook Lock." The gable displays an oculus featuring the City of London shield and the year "AD 1814" in raised letters. There are two windows with pivoting casements and glazing bars. To the left, there is a half-glazed door with a modern porch. The cottage also has one window return and a modern extension. It is included for its sociological interest.
