Description

Mint Cottages is a pair of cottages located on Buckland Road in Lower Kingswood. Number 93 is a two-bay house from the late 16th century, with a 1937 addition to the left that is not of special interest. It features timber framing with exposed box framing on the front, a midrail, diagonal tension bracing, and brick infill laid in stretcher bond, topped with a steeply pitched tiled roof. The cottage has two storeys and two windows, with 19th-century casements. There is also a 20th-century lean-to conservatory added to the ground floor. The interior reportedly includes exposed spine beams and ceiling joists with lamb's tongue stops and chamfers. Number 91 is an early 18th-century addition constructed from flint with red brick dressings on the front and cement rendering on the side. It has a half-hipped tiled roof and an external brick and rendered chimney stack on the front. The side elevation features two 19th-century casements and a 20th-century conservatory. Inside, there is an open fireplace with a curved bressummer.
