Coal and Wine tax post. Circa 1861. Made by Henry Grissell. Metal. Circa 4 foot high. Four legged plinth, chamfered pier with moulded central band and pyramidal top above. City of London shield on the front, lettering on the pier reads "24 & 25 VICT/CAP 42". Makers name on the rear. A Coal and Wine tax post indicating the boundary at which duty was payable; that on coal dating back to the 1660's.
