Description

Langshott Manor is a house that originated in the 17th century and was remodeled and extended in the early 20th century in a timber frame vernacular style. The building features a timber frame set on rubblestone and rendered plinths, with herringbone brick infill below bands of plain and fishscale tile hanging on the front range. The rear range has square panel framing with brick infill and tile hung gables. The roofs are covered with Horsham slabs and feature ridge cresting, along with tall multiple stacks, many of which are placed diagonally and have battlemented brick tops.

The manor consists of two L-shaped ranges positioned one behind the other, connected by a range at right angles. It is two storeys high, with attics in the gable ends and a gabled dormer on the rear left. The centre of the connecting range rises to three storeys and is topped with a gabled bellcote. The windows throughout are leaded casements, with four on the first floor of the front range and four at the rear. A ribbed Tudor style door is placed diagonally in a gabled porch, which features a four-centred arched entrance connected to a hip-roofed single-storey lobby in the re-entrant angle between the ranges. There is also a further door to the rear right under a pent porch hood, and a single-storey extension set back to the rear left. The interior has not been inspected but is reputed to have a date plaque over the fireplace.
