Description

THE STREET 1. 5387 Sun Cottage TQ 2441 5/72 II

  1. C17 timber-framed building. Two storeys. Ground floor has timber-framing in square panels. First floor is hung with diamond-shaped tiles. Tiled roof, half-hipped to east where there was originally an end bay for the hearth. Two case-ments. Gabled weather-porch. There is an outshut at the back and a back parlour wing of painted brick. The parlour wing has a fine brooch stop on the main girder. (See Joan M Harding, "Four Centuries of Charlwood Houses" p 81).
