Description
Temple Bar House is a 15th-century open hall house with an internal jetty, which was refaced in the 18th century. The exterior is of two storeys and is built of painted brick, topped with a tiled roof and a string course. The first floor has three sash windows, while the ground floor has tripartite sash windows with glazing bars and cambered heads. A doorcase features a flat hood.
Internally, the original open hall was of two bays, and the smoke-blackened rafters remain above the hall. The roof is a coupled rafter structure joined by collars, with jowls to the upright pots. A smoke bay was added in the 16th century, and a new room was incorporated in the 17th century with the insertion of a brick hearth. The parlour contains late 17th-century arched cupboards.
