Description

Spencers is a late 17th century two-room cottage located on Norwood Hill Road. It features an end outside chimney, a later bay, and an added front wing that includes an ingle nook hearth. The cottage has been much restored and stands two storeys high. The ground floor is constructed of renewed brick, while the first floor is timber-framed with plaster infilling. The roof is tiled and has three brick chimney-stacks with cemented coping. The building has three casement windows. Inside the original portion, there is a central spine beam and a wide bressumer above the hearth, along with two additional ingle nook fireplaces. The roof structure includes clasped purlins.
