Description
Edolphs is an early 17th-century three-bay parlour house featuring a chimney in the end bay and a back kitchen that is positioned at right angles. There is a Victorian addition of two bays to the west. The east end is the original part of the house. It is an L-shaped timber-framed building constructed with square framing and red brick infilling, which has been refaced with rough cast on the ground floor and tile hung above. The roof is tiled and the building has two storeys. It includes two casement windows and a penticed weather porch.
Inside, the parlour and an inner room showcase early 17th-century panelling and fine brooch stops on the spine beams. Upstairs, original partitioning can be found on the landing, along with chamfers around the doors. The bacon loft next to the chimneystack still has its bar and hooks for suspending flitches. The back kitchen features a large ingle nook hearth.
