Description
Stan Hill is a house dating from around 1620, which was enlarged in the late 17th century. It has two bays and stands two storeys high with attics in the gable end. The ground floor is constructed of Charlwood stone rubble, while the gable at the west end is made of painted brick. The first floor features timber framing with square framing and straight tension braces, and there is a late 17th-century gable at the west end. The roof is tiled and has three casement windows. A large outside chimney has random stone backing with galleting. There is no doorcase facing the road because the former road was on the opposite side of the house; the front door and stair turret are located at the rear. The roof structure is clasped purlin, and there has always been attic storage in the house.
