Description

The Manor House is a large hall-house dating from the 15th or 16th century, designed in a half H-shape. It features an outside kitchen wing that projects forward and a parlour wing that extends to the left. The building stands two storeys high and is constructed with timber framing, plaster, and red brick infilling, with the first floor partly tile hung. The parlour wing showcases close studding, which was a prestigious architectural feature. Both projecting wings have gables, and there are four casement windows. A timber-framed gabled porch sits at the angle between the hall and parlour wing, featuring a wooden four-centred arch with blockan spandrels. Inside, the house has a Crown post roof with a sagging brace, and the kitchen area is partly open to the roof, displaying blackened Crown posts and rafters above. This is one of the largest timber-framed houses in the parish.
