Description

This is an early 18th-century timber-framed house with a 19th-century addition of one bay to the south. The building is two storeys high. The ground floor is red brick, while the first floor is tile hung. It has a hipped tiled roof. The original portion of the house features two sash windows with glazing bars on the first floor, and casements on the ground floor. A doorcase is topped with a flat hood. A large external chimney stack has a random stone backing with galleting. The house is notable as a late example of timber-framing. It is described in more detail by Joan M Harding in “Four Centuries of Charlwood Houses” on page 80.
