Description
Black and White Cottage is a 17th-century cottage with 19th and 20th-century extensions at either end. The central section is timber framed with whitewashed brick infilling, while the left extension features re-used timber cladding and whitewashed brick. The right extension is made of brick and tile. The roofs are plain tiled, with a flat roof on the right side. The original layout includes a three-bay plan with a central chimney and an additional bay added to the left. The cottage has two storeys, with a single storey on the right, and a central corbelled stack. The first floor features three three-light diamond-pane windows, and there are three windows below. A gabled porch with a door in the center of the original range has flanking lights, leading to a lobby entry. Inside, there is a spiral staircase at the rear of the lobby, and an old external wall on the left has been preserved inside. This cottage is a relatively unspoilt example of a modest house.
