Description

Gosscroft Cottage is a late 16th-century cottage located on Henfold Lane in Newdigate. The cottage is timber-framed, with the front face covered in tile hanging, including fish-scale bands. The timber frame is exposed on the right-hand return front, with whitewashed render filling the spaces between the timbers. The roof is tiled, hipped to the right and half-hipped to the left. There are two gabled, diamond-pane dormers on the eaves to the right, with a weatherboard gable. A stack is located to the left of the centre of the building. The ground floor has three diamond-pane windows. A ribbed door is situated to the left of the centre, sheltered by a 20th-century gabled timber-framed porch with herringbone brick infill in the gable. The right-hand return front exhibits ogee bracing.
