Description

Smokejack Farm House is a 17th-century house that was extended and restored in the 20th century. It features a timber frame, which is clad in colourwashed render on the ground floor and tile hung above with bands of fishscale pattern. The frame is exposed on the left-hand return front and to the rear, and it has plain tiled roofs with deep eaves. The house has a long T-shaped plan with three gabled wings at right angles to the rear.

It is two storeys high and has a tall rendered stack to the right of centre. The windows are irregularly arranged with leaded 20th-century casements. On the first floor, there are two 3-light windows to the left, one small window under the eaves to the left of centre, three 2-light windows in the centre, and a further 4-light window to the right. The ground floor has three windows to the left and larger casement doors to the right. There is a pentice porch at the centre of the ground floor in place of a door, which features a leaded window.

On the right-hand return front, there is one dormer window and one window on the ground floor to the right, with the frame exposed on the wall. The rear has a large gable to the left and two smaller gables in the centre and right, with irregular 20th-century casement fenestration. There is a door on the ground floor of the centre gable and another door in a single-storey porch extension to the right.

Inside, there is a substantial amount of exposed frame, although some parts have been heavily restored, and there is a deep brick fireplace. The house was undergoing restoration at the time of the resurvey.
