Description
Orchard Farm Cottages is a house that has been extended and divided, originally serving as the Parish Workhouse. It dates back to the 16th century, with additions from the 17th century. The building is timber framed and is clad in pebble-dashed roughcast, with tile hanging on the first floor center and right, and 19th-century tile hanging on the rear. It features plain tiled roofs and has a T-shaped plan with wings at the rear.
The structure is two storeys tall with attics, including one gable-lit attic window on the left and three hip-roofed casement dormers in the center and right. There is a ribbed end stack on the right, a front ridge stack on the left, and additional stacks at the rear. The roof has a moulded eaves board. On the right of center, there are two casement windows on each floor, while the gabled bay has two first-floor windows and one ground-floor window. A pentice on the left end has one window on each floor. To the left of center, there is a half-glazed door, and another door is located in the left-hand return front. Inside, some main posts of the frame are visible.
