Description
Applecroft Little Maltings Cottage is a hall house that has been divided, dating from the early 16th century. It was extended to the right in the 18th century and remodeled in the 19th century. The structure features timber framing with stout scantling on the left and center, and thinner framing on the right. The walls are whitewashed brick and render infill, with patterned tile hanging above to the right, some arranged in a fish-scale pattern. The roof is plain tiled, hipped with a gablet on the left.
The building has two storeys with an attic in the center, which includes a 19th-century gabled dormer with bargeboarding. There is a small stack at the left end and a larger multiple stack to the right of center. Notable architectural details include fine arched bracing on the first floor to the left and right. The windows feature diamond-pane leaded casements at the ends, with one ground floor window on the left and a larger three-light window in the center under a drip board, along with another window to the right. The door is located on the left, with the main entrance accessed through a gabled bargeboarded porch to the right of center. There is an additional door on the right-hand return front. The building was formerly a brewhouse.
