Description
Dowdes is a cottage that dates back to the 17th century, with extensions made in the 19th and 20th centuries. It features a timber frame that is clad in 19th and 20th-century brick at the bottom and tile hung above, topped with a plain tiled roof. The cottage is two storeys high and has a rebuilt chimney stack to the right of the center. On the first floor, there are three casement windows, with the outer ones being three-light. A hip-roofed dormer in the center has an attic window. The ground floor includes two windows, plus an additional window in a pentice extension to the right. The central entrance is a half-glazed door situated under an open gable hood supported by brackets. At the rear, some of the framing is exposed on the first floor, with brick infilling. There is a catslide extension at the center of the rear, with a dormer window above.
