Description

The Ripley Pharmacy and Cottage Adjoining is a house that has been divided and is now part shop. It dates back to the 16th century, with alterations made in the late 19th century and an extension added in the early 20th century. The building features a timber frame, with brick cladding at the base and a fishscale band in tile hanging on the first floor. The right side of the first floor has imitation timber framing with rendered infill, while the left side has a whitewashed brick extension on the ground floor. The roofs are plain tiled, with bands of fishscale tiling.

The building is two storeys tall, with a three-storey gabled bay on the right end that has a jettied second floor supported by thick brackets. It has a moulded eaves board and bargeboards on the gable, which features a quatrefoil piercing at the apex. The front has four first floor windows on the left, one second floor window, and one first floor window in the gable. There is a five-light window on the ground floor gable and a square bay window to the right of centre on the ground floor. A single-storey flat-roofed extension is located at the front left, featuring a large shop window and door. There is a half-glazed door to the left of centre under a gabled porch, with another door to the right.
