Pond Cottage

Pond Cottage is a cottage dated 1863, built by the Lovelace Estate. It is constructed of flint rubble with ironstone galleting and features brick dressings with terracotta decoration. The slate roof extends in Cotshole over a weatherboard and brick extension to the left, and the building is positioned at right angles to the road.

The cottage is two storeys high and has two rebuilt corbelled stacks on the left. The right-hand return front has a gable end with deep eaves. There are two first-floor windows with cambered heads under a brick label mould that steps up to enclose an oval terracotta plaque featuring the Lovelace Arms at the gable apex. The ground floor has three cambered-head casements under a continuous label moulding, with one casement to the left in the pentice extension. A 20th-century panelled door is located in a set-back bay to the right.

At the rear, which faces the pond, there is a band of terracotta panels with quatrefoil decoration at the plinth, and cambered head casements in brick-dressed surrounds.
