Description

Daphne Cottage is an early 17th-century cottage, altered in the 19th century. It is timber-framed, largely exposed, with brick infilling. The left-hand return front is clad in red and blue brick, while the first floor of the right-hand end is tile-hung. The cottage has plain tiled roofs, which are half-hipped with a gablet facing the street. It has an L-shaped plan. The cottage is two storeys high and has a double ridge stack to the left and an end stack facing the street. The front, which is at a right angle to the street, has a gable to the left and a single framed bay to the right. A tension brace is exposed on the first floor. There are three casement windows on the ground floor. A 20th-century door is located in the centre of the right-hand range. The right-hand return front (rear) features two first-floor casements and one first-floor window above two ground-floor casements in the end of the right-hand wing.
