Description

Lynx Cottage is a cottage built in 1861 in the Lovelace Style. It features flint rubble construction with brick dressings and quoins, topped with slate roofs that have ridge cresting. The building has a gable end facing the street and stands two storeys tall, with a central end stack that divides the front. The stack is offset and includes a D-shaped plaque displaying the name of the cottage, a date plaque, and two armoured shields, all set in glazed brick surrounds on the shaft of the stack. There are additional stacks at the end rear and to the left of the cottage. A quatrefoil pattern band runs above the ground floor. Each floor has one casement window with original glazing bars, set in a chamfered, cambered head surround, located on either side of the stack. There is also a further window in a pentice extension that is set back to the left. A glazed door is located in a weatherboarded pentice porch at the re-entrant angle. To the right, there is a single-storey flat-roofed extension. On the left-hand return front, there is a buttressed stack, with one casement window on the first floor to the right and a ground floor window to the right.
