Description
The walls to the former kitchen garden of Horsley Towers date from the mid-18th century. They are constructed of red brick, with some areas colourwashed, and feature brick coping. The walls form a rectangular plan, measuring approximately 100 metres by 60 metres, with the north and south sides terraced. The west wall has been demolished. The walls on the east side stand about 8 feet high and include decorative terracotta panels around the southeast corner. The main entrance is located at the northeast corner, with additional minor entrances at the southwest. The northeast gate is made of stone and designed in a Classical style, featuring a flat dentilled cornice and antique dress. Above the arched entrance is a decorative panel that includes a circular portrait bust and drapery garlands. The garden side of the gate is simpler, showcasing block rustication and a keystone above the arched entrance.
