Description
Conisbee's Butchers, originally a shop built in 1861, is designed in the Lovelace Style. The building features flint rubble with brick and terracotta dressings, topped with slate roofs that have ridge cresting on the main house. It is located at the junction of two roads, with side ranges set back from a chamfered corner. The structure has three storeys with end stacks on the wings. A brick string course runs above the ground floor, and there is a quatrefoil pattern plaque band above the first floor, along with brick dentilled eaves.
On the left side, there are three casement windows on the first and second floors, all in brick surrounds. The ground floor has two small casement windows and one shop window beneath a fascia board to the right, along with a half-glazed door in the centre. There is a single-storey extension to the left that features brick dentilled eaves and "breathers." The central gabled bay has a D-shaped plaque in the gable, situated above two second-floor casement windows in brick surrounds. A diamond-shaped date plaque is located on the first floor, with a half-glazed door below it in a round-arched, roll-moulded brick surround.
On the right side, the fenestration is irregular, with one window on the second floor and two cambered head casement windows on the first floor. The ground floor includes two single-light windows and one shop window under a fascia board, with a door in the centre.
