Description

Heath Lodge is a former workhouse that has been converted into a house. It dates from the early 18th century and underwent alterations in the 19th century, with an extension added to the rear. The building is constructed of red brick, with the rear whitewashed, and features a plain tiled roof. It stands two storeys tall, with a plat band above the ground floor and an attic beneath a gabled casement dormer located to the right of the centre. There is a front stack on the left, an end stack on the right, and a corbelled stack at the rear. The façade is regular, showcasing five casement windows on the first floor and four camber head windows below. A half-glazed door is situated in the centre, sheltered by an open porch. At the rear, there are two gabled wings positioned at right angles, one of which has a slate roof. The building is listed primarily for its historic interest as the village workhouse.
