Description
Ponds Farm House is a house dating from the late 16th century to early 17th century, which has been altered and restored in the 20th century. It is timber framed, featuring whitewashed render cladding on the ground floor and 20th-century tile hanging above. The roof is plain tiled. The house has two storeys and includes a corbelled offset stack at the right end, which sits on a galleted ironstone plinth. The windows are leaded casements, with three on the first floor and three wood-framed open "cross" windows below. There is a door to the right end that is set back behind the stack in a recessed porch, which is covered by a pentice hood. An extension with a pentice roof is located on the right-hand return front and has a gable-lit attic. At the rear, there is a 20th-century brick wing that is at right angles to the main structure. Inside, substantial amounts of the framing are exposed, although most of it has been restored.
