Description

The Oxshott War Memorial is located at the top of the south slope of Oxshott Heath, positioned on high ground with trees in the background. It is enclosed by a low rail and a hedge, with the main face of the memorial overlooking the heath.

This stone memorial features a 7-meter high wheel-head cross that rises from an octagonal shaft. The shaft is set on a square plinth, which has incised inscriptions dedicated to those who lost their lives during the Second World War. The plinth is raised on five octagonal steps that also bear incised inscriptions and names in stylised lettering, honoring those who lost their lives during the First World War.

The dedicatory inscription on the front face of the plinth reads "AM/ DG/ 1939-1945." Additionally, the inscription around the top step states, "IN GRATEFUL MEMORY OF/ THE MEN OF OXSHOTT WHO/ SERVED THEIR KING & COUNT- / RY IN THE GREAT WAR/ REMEMBERING BEFORE GOD/ THOSE WHO GAVE THEIR/ LIVES IN THE CAUSE OF/ LIBERTY AND JUSTICE +."
