Description
The Narborough War Memorial Cross is located in the churchyard of the Church of All Saints, which is a Grade I-listed building. It is prominently placed just inside the churchyard entrance, facing Main Road. The memorial features a granite wheel-head cross with a reversed sword carved in low relief on the front face. The cross is set on a tapering plinth with a two-stepped base and is surrounded by a low granite kerb filled with chippings. The inscriptions are made with applied metal lettering.
The main dedicatory inscription starts on the front face of the foot of the cross shaft, reading "TO THE GLORY OF GOD AND IN MEMORY OF" and continues on the plinth below, listing 11 names of those who gave their lives to save their country in the Great War from 1914 to 1919. A later dedication for the Second World War is found on the rear face of the plinth, stating "ALSO OF THOSE WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES IN THE WORLD WAR 1939 – 1945," which includes 6 names.
