Description

The grotto at the south end of the lake in Claremont Landscape Garden is an early 18th-century structure. It is built from various types of rocks and boulders, with flint and earth infill, standing approximately 20 feet high. The grotto features four arched entrances facing the lakeside and has three rock pinnacles at the top. Inside, there is a roughly arched chamber behind the entrance, which has an earth and stone floor.
