Description

The Temple on the island in the lake at Claremont Landscape Garden is a mid-18th century structure. It features flint at the base and yellow brick above, topped with hipped slate roofs. The central part of the building is a two-storey square pavilion, flanked by single-storey bays on the sides and rear. The ground floor is rusticated in the center, with an ashlar string course separating the flint and brick, which ends in impost blocks above the central arch. The front entrance is adorned with a pedimented stone moulding. The building has glazing bar sash windows on the returns and at the rear.
