Description
The Garden Temple, located in the grounds behind Number 36, is a mid-18th century structure. It is constructed from ashlar and flint with brick dressings and a retaining wall. The temple is a single-storey building built into a hillside, featuring three bays on a flint plinth. The central bay is set behind a portico supported by four Doric columns that have chiseled decoration and a cornice. It includes a central arched lunette-type door, flanked by brick buttresses and brick impost blocks, all topped with a pediment made of tiles laid on edge. Additionally, there are smaller planked doors in the outer bays.
