Description
The Garden Temple in the back garden of Number 14 (Temple House) dates from around 1730 to 1740. It features a tetrastyle Ionic portico made of wood and plaster, with a pulvinated frieze and a modillioned cornice. The tympanum includes a blank shield of arms adorned with foliage swags. The soffit of the architrave is decorated with a Greek key pattern. Inside, the temple has an apsidal shape and is open, showcasing an enriched stucco ceiling with an oval panel, a pulvinated frieze, and a cornice, along with a paved floor. The temple is notable for being open at the back without any attached room, making it a fine example of its type.
