Description

The Pelham vase, located in the grounds of No. 30 (Esher Place), is a mid-18th century vase made of Portland stone. It stands approximately 15 feet high on a square plinth. The plinth features fine relief panels on three sides, each adorned with Latin inscriptions. One panel reads "Et in Arcadia Ego," while the opposing side displays "Charan and Mercury." The fourth side contains the inscription: "Henrica Pelham Patrone suo optima sempesque record et ione posuit I.R." Above the plinth is an Ampherac type vase set on a wreathed base.
