Description
The Garden Temple, located to the north of Duddon Hall, was built in 1843 and is constructed of ashlar stone. The east elevation features a tetrastyle Corinthian portico with a pediment adorned with a wreath. The top parapet is decorated with urns at the corners, and the plinth at the base is dated and supports a stag. The central entrance and the flanking window openings are framed with architraves and pediments that include relief foliage, while the windows have segmental pediments. The soffit of the portico is detailed with rosettes in a coffered design. The side elevations have fluted Corinthian pilasters at the ends that project forward. Below the entablature, there is a Vitruvian scroll, and the parapet is balustraded. One of the windows also features a segmental pediment, while the rear elevation is plain.
