Description

Milestone located in Claremont Park, Esher, dating from 1747. This stone structure stands approximately 3 feet high and 1 foot 6 inches square, featuring a mitred sloping top. It has a well-preserved inscription in Roman style lettering that reads: "XVIII miles from the Standard in Cornhill, London, Westminster Bridge XVII miles 1747."
