Description

The milestone located at the junction with Sheen Lane, on the south side beside the public lavatory, is made of square Portland stone and stands approximately 4 feet high. It features a shallow pyramidal head. The north and south faces are inscribed with the text "X Miles From the Standard In Cornhill London 1751." The east face bears the inscription "VI Miles To Quarters From Hyde Park Corner." The inscriptions are carved in a mixture of capital and minuscule letters, with some traces of recutting visible.
