Description
Nos 44 and 46 Victoria Road are a pair of cottages, likely built in the 1870s. They are constructed from in situ mass concrete, using a method similar to that of Joseph Tall, who was a pioneer in concrete shuttering. The exterior is stuccoed, and they originally featured a flat concrete roof with a parapet. Each cottage is two storeys high and two windows wide. The outer bay of each cottage is recessed and includes an entrance, while the advanced bay features a corniced polygonal bow window. The windows and doors have square heads, with stucco keystones and moulded architraves on the upper windows. The cottages have sash windows with original glazing bars and a cornice at the parapet. Inside, there are concrete floors and stairs, and the entrance ceiling has a shallow segmental barrel shape.
