Description

The grotto in the garden of Churton Lodge is likely from the late 19th century and is constructed from large, uncut pieces of red sandstone. It creates a bank that is 4 meters high, separating the garden from New Road. The grotto is designed as a linear structure, featuring a rocky, winding passage that runs parallel to its face in the garden, with several openings along the way. Additionally, the west side of the grotto serves as the boundary wall to New Lane.
