Description
This is a wall belonging to the former kitchen garden at Churton Lodge. It dates from the 19th century or earlier and is constructed from a mix of red sandstone squared rubble and local brown brick. The wall has flush stone coping. A basket-arched doorway is built of brick and stone and features a Jacobean pediment above. A small wrought iron pergola on the north side of the doorway, likely designed by Lockwood, adds to the wall’s pleasing appearance. A furnace house and ruinous greenhouses abutting the north wall are not part of this listing.
