Description
Churton Mission Hall is a former schoolhouse, built in 1864 at the expense of the 2nd Marquis of Westminster. The building is constructed of squared snecked red sandstone and features a graded grey slate roof. It has a cross-gable design to the left of the Old School House, with a three-light window in the gable that has recessed mullions and a transom, all under a stepped label. This label contains the Grosvenor Sheaf and the date 1864, which is topped by a Talbot Dog. The gables have plain bargeboards and verges on shaped purlins. There is a lateral stone bellcote that houses a school bell. Additionally, there is a stone-slate roofed lean-to along the left side, which is either contemporary or a facsimile.
