Description

Chimney Farm Cottages are two cottages dating to the late 17th century, situated in Aston Bampton and Shifford. They are constructed of coursed limestone rubble with a gabled concrete tile roof and a 20th-century brick ridge stack. The cottages follow a two-unit plan and have a symmetrical three-window facade to the front. The ground floor features a timber lintel over a central blocked door, and the windows are 20th-century two- and three-light casements. The rear elevation contains two 20th-century doors and four windows, likely reset from the 17th century, which are three-light stone-mullioned with ovolo moulding. A similar two-light window is found in the right-hand gable. The interior has not been inspected.
