Description
Shifford Manor Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the late 17th century, with a front range added in the early 19th century. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble and features a double-gabled roof made of artificial stone slate, along with a brick stack at one end. The building has a double-depth plan with a central staircase and is two storeys high, presenting a four-window range. There are segmental brick arches above a 20th-century door located in the second bay from the right, with a six-pane sash window above the door and eight-pane sash windows throughout. The rear range includes a brick string course and brick dressings around blocked and 19th-century windows.
Inside the rear range, there is a notable late 17th-century open-well staircase, which has turned balusters set on a closed string, along with ball finials and pendentives on the square newel posts. Only partial inspection of the interior has been conducted.
